Wehe is a network testing app that provides an analysis of your network's performance, specifically in terms of traffic restrictions and prioritization by your network provider. By participating in the free tests offered by Wehe on your mobile device, you are contributing to an IRB-approved research project conducted at Northeastern University, led by Dr. David Choffnes. The aim of this research project is to identify potential violations of net neutrality.

It is important to note that individual test results indicating "Differentiation detected" do not necessarily imply a violation of Regulation (EU) 2015/2120 on Open Internet.

Wehe collects geolocation data at a coarse-grained level, with a precision of 0.1 degrees latitude/longitude, only if users explicitly opt in to provide this information. Fine-grained geolocation data is not collected by Wehe. Additionally, IP addresses are collected by Wehe but are stored in truncated form to ensure they cannot be linked to individuals. All collected data is deidentified to safeguard personal data and is made available as open data, allowing third parties to reproduce the test conclusions.

Wehe utilizes servers located worldwide, including servers hosted by Measurement Lab (M-Lab). While M-Lab collects additional measurement data, they do so following the same privacy protection measures as Wehe. It is worth noting that the set of servers and hosts utilized may change over time, but our privacy policy and data protection practices remain consistent.
